Could This Happen in Your Company? Clarrissa’s son Robert, died from AIDS complications months ago. One day at work she sees two coworkers sharing a laugh. Needing some cheer, Clarrisa asks, "What’s so funny?" One of the coworkers tells the joke: "God invented AIDS to control the fags." Joey has been with his partner, Ted, for seven years. He has Ted’s photo on his desk. One morning, Joey finds someone has written across the photo, "Queers burn in hell." When Joey reports this to his Supervisor, she tells him, "There’s nothing I can do about that." Laura is very proud of her daughter, Karen, who just received her Doctorate. Karen and her partner, Cindi, are going on a cruise to celebrate. While other coworkers discuss their children daily, Laura remains silent. She has heard many antigay comments in the office and has seen discrimination there, and she cannot afford to lose her job. Could this be your office? Your company? Your coworkers? Yourself? Discrimination comes in many forms, and it all hurts. It’s time to end discrimination in the workplace. It’s time to create: "SAFE SPACES IN WORK PLACES"
